CFAA Practical Testing
Overview
The CFAA Practical Test is designed to assess your hands-on Fire Alarm technician skills.
This test ensures you can safely install, maintain, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems according to industry standards.

Requirements
- You need to be a Registered CFAA Trainee
- Successful completion of the Registration Theory Examination (80% to pass)
How the Test is Conducted
- This is an open-book test: We have the ULC S537-19 Standards, Specification Sheets and Operatonal Manual available for your use.
- The test is done one student at a time, with a registered trainer.
- The test is approximately 3 hours.
- It is a complete Verification that is performed on a small but complete conventional system.
- You do not need to bring any tools.
- If you are ill on the scheduled day please give us a call to re-schedule your test.
Re-taking the Test
- If your first attempt is unsuccessful you must wait a minimum of one (1) month to retake the Exam.
- If you are unsuccessful after your second attempt you will be required to submit a completed CFAA Fire Alarm Trainee Log Book at the end of a minimum of one (1) year waiting period before you retake it.

How to Register
You must have already completed the CFAA Theory Exam and have a valid CFAA Trainee number prior to taking the CFAA Practical Test.
