3 Steps to Register

Thank you for your interest in registering in the CFAA Canadian Fire Alarm Technology Program (CFATP).

Please follow the steps below to complete your registration.

Self-Funded / Vocational Students

If you or a family member will be paying for your tuition, the contract will remain in your name as the student.

 

Third-Party Funded  / Non-Vocational Students

If your tuition is being paid by an employer, union, or other sponsor (for example, a government funding program), the contract will be with the third party.

Save Time with Course Exemptions

If you have completed equivalent courses or are a licensed electrician in Canada, you may be eligible for exemptions from CFAA Courses 2, 3, and 4 in the Canadian Fire Alarm Technology Program. (Note: Courses 1 & 5 must still be completed in sequence.)

> Submit your transcripts to CFAA for review any possible exemptions.

*Don’t forget! Once you receive your exemption approval from CFAA, please send the document to as we are required to file it in your student file.

Step 2 – Submit Required Pre-Admission Documents

Email scanned copies or clear photos of the following documents to :

  1. Government-issued Photo ID

  2. High School Diploma or equivalent

Have a Diploma from Another Country?

You must get your assessment from an organization or a professional body designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. They will give you a report that tells you what your education is equal to in Canada.
Processing times and costs may vary by organization or professional body.
Once you choose a designated organization or a professional body, they will tell you how to submit your documents to get your assessment.

Support for Students with Learning Disabilities

Applicants with learning disabilities can request academic accommodations by submitting appropriate documentation early in the admissions process.

Accommodations do not alter essential competencies or outcomes, but provide equitable access to instruction and assessment.

Funding Opportunities 

Financial assistance may be available to help you cover tuition costs. We encourage all eligible applicants to explore the options below, and we are happy to support you with documentation for your funding application. 

Better Jobs Ontario

If you are unemployed, underemployed, or looking to retrain for a high-demand career, you may qualify for funding through the Better Jobs Ontario program. Learn more about Better Jobs Ontario 

Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG)

If your employer is paying for your tuition they may be eligible to receive up to 83% of your training costs through the Canada-Ontario Job Grant. Learn more about the COJG 

Important Information

  • Registration is first-come, first-served. 
  • Courses 1 & 5 must be completed in sequence. 
  • Allow up to 5 business days for your registration package to be reviewed. 
  • The Contract must be completed electronically. Handwritten forms will not be accepted. 
  • Health and Safety Management College (HSMC) cannot guarantee your exemption request.  
  • All exemption requests will need to be filed at least 4 weeks prior to the start of the program. Mid-program exemption request cannot be accommodated.  
  • In the event the student’s exemptions have not been processed or approved 4 weeks prior to the start of the program, the student will be responsible to complete any required courses. Non-refundable. 

Technology Requirements

All students need a reliable device, internet, and audio/video setup to access lessons, communicate with instructors, and complete online quizzes and tests.
