About the Instructor:

Louis-Philippe (Phil) Gagnon

Phil is presently employed by Pageau Morel Engineering as a Fire Alarm & Standards Specialist.

He has studied in computer science and electronics at CEGEP de l’Outaouais and his career started as an Alarm System Technician in 1988. His career path brought him to work for various companies such as Simplex Time Equipment Co., Wells Fargo, ADT, SimplexGrinnell and Total Fire Protection in Ottawa until he was hired by Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) in February 2012 as an Alarm System Auditor.

Phil became a Senior Alarm System Auditor with expertise in Fire Alarm Systems applicable Standards CAN/ULC-S524, -S537, -S536, S561 and CAN/ULC-S1001 Standard for Integrated Systems Testing of Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems. Phil was a participant and the technical lead in developing the ULC’s S1001 certification program.

He has also participated in various standard working groups and committees and various conferences & trainings sessions to service providers, associations and AHJ’s.
